The body responds to skin needling in the same way it would react to an injury. The small amount of bleeding caused during treatment releases powerful growth factors which are part of the natural healing response. This results in increased collagen and elastin production. It is especially effective for addressing the visible signs of ageing as well as scarring, slackened skin, uneven skin tone and dilated blood vessels. Medical skin needling is suitable for all skin types.
At Skin Deep Rejuvenation Therapies we use the FNS Dermapen, an advanced skin needling system. With adjustable needle depths (0.2mm to 3.0mm) the dermapen is easy to safely manoeuvre around facial contours such as the nose and under the eyes and can also penetrate thicker scar tissue without the needles bending, always a problem with cheaper dermarollers. This system uses multiple needles, vertically piercing the skin and creating thousands of tiny holes. This then stimulates the release of growth factors which break down old, fibrous collagen and stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin with minimal damage to the skin’s surface (epidermis). Minimised epidermal damage means less pain, less redness and a quicker recovery.
