Omnilux light therapy is non-invasive, non-ablative and safe for patients. It is a new technology based on narrowband Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), developed after 12 years of extensive medical research.

The Omnilux range of services is used for the treatment of a wide range of dermatological conditions including, acne, photodamage, skin rejuvenation, vitiligo and wound healing post elective surgery.

Each differing treatment heads delivers pure, optimised, narrowband light via a matrix of LEDs carefully positioned to deliver the correct dose of light to the treatment area.

Skin Rejuvenation

Although the ageing of our skin is a complex biological process there are two main causes: chronological ageing - the effect of time on our bodies; and photo-ageing - the effect of the sun’s harmful rays.

As we grow older, the amount of collagen, the major supporting protein of the body, diminishes. In addition, the skin becomes less flexible. This means that our skin becomes drier and thinner as the body's natural regeneration process slows down, and the skin slowly loses its ability to retain moisture.

These effects are further compounded by the harmful UVA and UVB rays in sunlight. These damage the skin by producing enzymes that break down the skin’s supportive structure and so prevent the creation of new collagen.

Successfully restoring the skin overcomes the effects of time and exposure to the sun by stimulating the creation of new collagen. It also aids the detoxification of the skin.

How Omnilux Works

Omnilux™ light therapy is proven to stimulate cellular mechanisms responsible for tissue repair. Omnilux revive™ (633nm) therapy stimulates fibroblast activity, leading to faster and more efficient collagen synthesis.
Omnilux revive™ also increases cell vitality. Omnilux plus™ (830nm) stimulates the remodelling process producing better collagen. In combination these wavelengths work synergistically to produce better visible results.

Omnilux revive™

The various tissues and cell types in the skin have their own absorption characteristics, absorbing light at specific wavelengths. Studies have shown that red light therapy such as Omnilux can stimulate collagen precursors and enzymes associated with cellular remodelling.

In a single study using Omnilux revive™ 91% of volunteers reported visible changes to their skin indicating that even 5 weeks after the last treatment there was still a positive effect on the evaluation criteria. 64% reported a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and a perception of softer skin and 68% reported smoother skin the therapy was well tolerated and there were no reported side effects.

At Omnilux™ we strive to understand how light therapy works in synergy with our bodies’ own natural mechanisms.

How does it work?
Omnilux™ light therapy works with the body's own natural processes to counteract the effects of ageing. The different lights target specific cells, which are responsible for the synthesis and repair of the skins supportive structure.

What will I see?
In an independent study over 80% of subjects reported a softening of fine lines after treatment and 75% reported improvement in skin softness and smoothness.

Is it safe?
The scientifically designed light source does not have harmful UVA or UVB. You will experience a feeling of relaxation and well-being during and after the treatment. The treatment is not painful, there are no injections involved and there's no patient downtime. Studies have shown that the majority of clients find the treatment relaxing

How many treatments are needed?
This depends upon your individual treatment regime. Your aesthetician will advise you on how many treatments may be suitable for your particular needs.

How long will the treatment take?
Your first treatment will take 45 minutes, allowing for your initial consultation. Ongoing treatments will typically be 30-minute appointments, during which the light is administered for 20 minutes.

How long does it take to recover?
There is no need for recovery time, and makeup can be re-applied immediately after treatment.

Will the results be seen straight away?
This depends upon the treatment options used. The initial effects you will see are a clearer, brighter and smoother complexion. After the course of treatments have finished you will still see an improvement in tone, clarity and skin smoothness. You will also see softening of your fine lines and wrinkles.

How long will the results last?
This will vary according to skin type and lifestyle and whether you have combined OmniluxTM with other treatments. However, when you have completed your course, it is usually recommended that you have one maintenance treatment on a 4-6 week basis, as this will prolong the results.
